Department of Mechanical Engineering

About the Department

The mechanical engineering department of NIT Mizoram was started from the year of 2013. Currently it’s offering the B.Tech course with the annual intake of 30 students. The department has also started the PhD programme from 2016. This newly established department comprises of well-qualified faculties, supporting staffs and suitably equipped laboratories. The continuous development in terms of quality faculty members and laboratories evince the Vision and Mission of the department. The first undergraduate batch successfully rolled out in the year 2017.

To provide the society and industry with Mechanical Engineers having superior technical capability and ethical responsibility.

To be recognized globally for outstanding education and research leading to cater well-qualified engineers, who are innovative, entrepreneurial and successful in advanced fields of engineering and research.

Mission of the Department

Teaching:
To nurture its students with a strong theoretical and practical knowledge.

To impart quality education with up-to-date technological skill to meet regional as well as national priorities in higher education for industrial application.

Research:
To create and promote a research-oriented teaching-learning environment in the department with a focus on excellence and innovation.

To develop an interdisciplinary research environment among the students and faculties.

Service:
To provide beneficial service to the local, state and national industries and communities via educational, technical, entrepreneurial, and professional activities.
